Ivan accepts briefs in all areas of commercial litigation. He has a wealth of expertise in insolvency and banking and finance law, having practised in the area for 13 years.
Before coming to the Bar, Ivan was a partner in the dispute resolution team at Gadens. Ivan worked on a variety of commercial disputes including class actions, shareholders disputes, security enforcement proceedings, debt recovery matters, voidable preference claims, voluntary administration disputes, bankruptcies, public examinations, passing off actions, derivative claims and fraud matters.
Ivan has wide ranging advocacy experience across both State and Commonwealth Courts and Tribunals. He has appeared in applications to set aside statutory demands, winding up and bankruptcy applications, summary judgment applications, injunction hearings, pre-hearing conferences, mediations and directions hearings.
As a solicitor he instructed in a number of trials including ASIC v Healey (Centro directors case) and Commonwealth Bank of Australia v Love (sale for undervalue claim).
Ivan is recommended as a leading insolvency lawyer by Doyle’s in 2016 and in 2017. He was also named in the “Best Lawyers in Australia” in the area of banking and finance law for each of 2016 and 2017.
