Profile
James practices in all areas of corporate, commercial and insolvency law. He also has experience in administrative and public law, particularly judicial review proceedings in the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Before coming to the Bar, James was a Senior Associate in the Commercial Disputes team at Mallesons (formerly KWM), where he represented clients in a broad range of commercial matters.
James has acted for clients in complex contractual disputes, misleading and deceptive conduct claims, misuse of market power proceedings and prosecuting fraud claims. He has also defended large corporations in class actions and acted for insolvency practitioners in both personal and corporate insolvencies.
James has successfully obtained urgent interlocutory relief for clients, including several freezing orders (Mareva injunctions) and search and seizure orders (Anton Piller orders).
Between 2020 and 2021, James served as Associate to the Honourable Justice Ginnane in the trial division of the Supreme Court of Victoria, where he gained valuable experience in Common Law matters.
James graduated with First Class Honours. He also holds a Bachelor of International Studies and is a certified marriage celebrant.
James is reading with Raini Zambelli. His Senior Mentor is Kathleen Foley SC.
